Ellen Riley is a Senior Vice President of Kaufman Hall, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. With more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, her areas of expertise include integrated strategic financial and capital planning, development and implementation of capital allocation processes, strategic options assessments, strategic pricing evaluations, performance improvement, and financial advisory services in support of debt transactions and partnership affiliations. Ms. Riley has worked with a wide range of healthcare organizations, including health systems, academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, district hospitals, community hospitals, and children’s hospitals.

Ms. Riley has written for healthcare professional journals, including hfm magazine, and has presented on current healthcare issues for the Healthcare Financial Management Association, National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions, California Hospital Association, National Association of Health and Educational Facilities Finance Authorities, and other industry associations. She is a member of the Health Advisory Board of the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy, where she also is an Adjunct Associate Professor for the Health Administration Program.

Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Ms. Riley was a Manager in Ernst & Young’s Western Region Healthcare Finance and Business Planning Group. She directed consulting engagements related to financial feasibility assessments, business evaluation and planning, capital planning and formation, acquisition valuation, and Certificate of Need preparation. Prior to her tenure at Ernst & Young, Ms. Riley worked in the Corporate Acquisitions and Development Department at National Medical Enterprises, Inc., where her responsibilities focused on financial analyses and due diligence related to hospital acquisition and development projects.

Ms. Riley holds an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California at San Diego.
