Maureen leads cultural transformation across Kaufman Hall clients. She brings over 40 years of healthcare clinical and leadership experience as both an advanced practice professional and, later, as senior director for The Center for Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality for a large academic medical center. Her passion for cultural transformation and clinical quality improvement is complemented by her engaging personality and ability to translate difficult concepts into real-world action. A seasoned national presenter in areas of high reliability, patient safety and quality improvement, Maureen is a member of the Malcolm Baldrige Board of Examiners, a Senior Baldrige Examiner and is a past Baldrige Fellow.

At Kaufman Hall, Maureen is leading a novel intervention for the transformation of long-term care and the discovery of critical actions to transform caregiver wellbeing, culture and leadership, ultimately aimed at improving care for vulnerable residents. This work led to the first national benchmark for long-term care.

Prior to joining Vizient, Maureen spent 43 years at Abington-Jefferson Health in clinical, operational and strategic roles, leading to Abington’s recognition as a state Baldrige Award winner and recipient of numerous safety and quality recognitions. As a faculty in several universities, Maureen is able to share her love for teaching and inspiring a new generation of healthcare leaders.

Maureen's key achievements and accomplishments during her career include the cultural transformation of several acute care organizations through high reliability processes and theory, reduction in preventable harm through focused strategies and standard work, and strategic applications of high reliability with organizations trying to determine and design their transformational journey.

Maureen earned her master’s degree in nursing from La Salle University, her nurse practitioner certification from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of the State of New York, and a diploma in nursing from Abington Memorial Hospital. She holds national certification from the American Nurses Credentialling Center as a nurse practitioner and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety.
