I'm Chris Tomac, the manager of clinical analytics for Sharp Healthcare in San Diego, and I oversee a team of data analysts responsible for reporting our clinical outcomes and measures related to patient safety at Sharp.

Our organization selected Axiom Clinical Analytics because it is Sharp's mission to be the best place to receive care. And to do that, we decided that we need to be in the 90th percentile or above for some selected clinical quality measures. So we needed a software product to be able to measure that for us. And Axiom Clinical Analytics provides the risk-adjusted rates that we need to gauge our performance against the nation.

Axiom Clinical Analytics provides us a flexible analytic platform to run a variety of measures on our performance, related to clinical quality of care at Sharp. It also provides us solid risk-adjustment methodology so we can make sure that we're giving ourselves a fair comparison when we're looking at things like mortality, readmission rates, and complications.

Axiom Clinical Analytics has been very flexible in terms of customization. So we're able to use the tool to run a variety of ad-hoc analyses as they come up and become a priority at the organization. In addition, we're using it for a physician practice evaluation for our standard med staff, office credentialing reports.

The implementation of the software went very smooth. I think it was well-planned from the Axiom side and also on the Sharp side. We collaborated a lot to make a lot of key decisions and that's really the key: having everything out on the table and making those decisions together.

The customer service related to Axiom Clinical Analytics has been fabulous. They've been very responsive with all of our requests, including requests for product enhancements. They take those into consideration and release those with standard releases multiple times a year.

So I would say working with the Axiom Clinical Analytics staff has been really great. They've been really responsive. We could send them questions. They get right back to us whether it's questions about using the product, questions about enhancements or why a certain thing is appearing a certain way. We really get that feeling that they care about us as a client and that they want us to succeed on the platform. And that's really nice, rather than kind of getting lost in the shuffle of a bigger company. We really feel we're taken good care of by Axiom.
