The COVID-19 crisis has caused dramatic financial harm to California hospitals, according to a new data analysis prepared by Kaufman Hall for the California Hospital Association. The current and future financial impacts of the pandemic on California hospitals include:

  • A 35% decline in discharge volumes and 62% decline in ED visits in April 2020, as compared to typical monthly volumes
  • A likely net loss in revenues of $14.6 billion through the end of December 2020

This report has two sections:
