James Kinn is a Vice President in Kaufman Hall’s Strategic and Financial Planning practice. His responsibilities include providing financial and capital planning support for a variety of healthcare organizations, including multi-state health systems, academic medical centers, and stand-alone community providers. His areas of expertise include strategic financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic financial services. Mr. Kinn has collaborated with and advised numerous organizations in the development and execution of strategic financial and capital planning initiatives to strengthen financial enterprise profiles, preserve credit ratings, and optimize capital access.
Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Mr. Kinn was on the Strategy and Corporate Development Team for The 3M Company in Minneapolis, where his responsibilities included early-stage transactions, strategic planning reviews, and due diligence on acquisition opportunities and strategy projects in the healthcare, industrial, and consumer markets. Before this, Mr. Kinn was a Private Equity Associate at ShoreView Industries, where he advised on leveraged buyouts and restructuring projects, among other responsibilities. He started his career as a Mergers and Acquisitions Investment Banking Analyst and Associate at Lincoln International in Chicago.
Mr. Kinn has authored Thought Leadership on trends in Catholic healthcare and the broader healthcare industry. He holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received All Big-Ten honors in track and field, and continues to participate in triathlons and road races.
