George Kis is a Senior Vice President with Kaufman Hall and a leader in the firm’s Performance Improvement practice, with a focus on Workforce optimization. With 40 years of experience, he works with healthcare executives across the country to deliver innovative solutions that improve operational spend, provide actionable decision support insights, and drive higher levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Mr. Kis was a Managing Director with Huron Consulting Group, where he led the firm’s workforce advisory services, including sales, methodology, tools, and strategic relationship development. His previous experience includes serving as a Vice President with Wellspring Partners, and as a Senior Director at Siemens Medical Solutions and Medicus Systems, where he led technical design teams and software implementation and enhancement services. Mr. Kis also served as a Senior Manager for KPMG, LLP and Ernst & Young, where he was the national healthcare practice leader for case mix and cost management decision support initiatives. He began his career as an Assistant Controller for a 500-bed academic medical center in the Mid-West, focused on revenue cycle operations and budgeting.
Mr. Kis earned his M.S. in Healthcare Financial Management and B.S. in Accounting, both from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Certified Public Accountant, and co-authored the book, Cost Management for Hospitals, which received the Technical Excellence Award from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
