Charles Kim is a Managing Director of Kaufman Hall, and Director of the firm’s Higher Education division. With more than 25 years of advisory experience, Mr. Kim consults with healthcare systems, academic medical centers, and institutions of higher education nationwide.
Like the Healthcare division, the Higher Education division provides a full range of management advisory services. Services for colleges and universities include strategic planning, strategic options assessment, financial planning, budgeting, capital allocation, corporate risk management, comprehensive debt management, and other financial advisory services. Additionally, the division provides Axiom EPM, the industry’s leading enterprise performance platform for long-range planning, budgeting, and other management tools. An integrated, multidisciplinary team of consultants and software experts staffs the division.
Mr. Kim focuses on helping clients incorporate proven methods into their strategic and financial planning and management in order to achieve goals that are sustainable into the future. His expertise includes preparing financial and capital plans, acting as financial advisor for bond issues, advising on partnerships, and merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions, and supporting the application of Axiom EPM for best-practice management decision making.
Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Mr. Kim was a Manager at Deloitte & Touche, where he specialized in financial advisory services.
Mr. Kim is a frequent speaker and author on the topic of strategic financial planning, enterprise risk, capital allocation, and partnership ventures. He presents at various industry groups, including local and regional programs for healthcare and university associations.
Mr. Kim has an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting and a B.A. in Economics, both from the University of Chicago.
