The sheer size of these documents speaks to how strategy has evolved – and continues to evolve - in healthcare providers organizations. Strategic plans are no longer simple income statement & cash flow forecasts, instead, they encompass multiple business perspectives including financial health, quality of care, process of care, employee growth and retention, just to name a few. And given today’s dynamic business environment, these plans aren’t static; they must be re-evaluated on an on-going basis to address the changing regulatory environment and competitive landscape. It isn’t surprising that so many organizations struggle with strategy execution; the process of translating strategy into actionable and measurable operational initiatives.
